Couple Communication Program

Topics Covered in the Group will Include the Following:
  • The Importance and Biblical Basis of Good Communication: Towards the Collaborative Marriage
  • Choosing Communication Styles: How it's appropriate to talk to each other and when!
  • Identifying Issues: What's Important to you and your partner?
  • Using your Awareness Wheel: 6 skills for expressing yourself more clearly.
  • Applying the Listening Cycle: Caring for your partner enough to understand his/her awareness.

Couple Communication is a premier skills program for couples. Developed at the University of Minnesota Family studies center, its has been completed by over 700,000 couples around the world. The fee for participation in this class will be $150.00 per couple plus $39.00 for materials.

Anger Management Group

Topics Covered in the Group:
  • What does the Bible say about anger?
  • Why do we get angry?
  • What can you do instead of acting angry?
  • How do we show our anger
  • Does anger have a purpose?
  • How you can control your anger
  • Healthy verses unhealthy anger
  • How to develop a healthy voice

The purpose of the group is to help individuals cope better in situations that currently cause anger, by gaining understanding of anger and by teaching healthy adaptive behaviors. Scripture will be included throughout the course. The group will be open to both men and women at least high school age.

The fee for the Anger Prevention and Management group is $480.00 per person. A maximum of ten people will be allowed in the group.

Thrive Collaborative Marriage Assessment

To assist couples increase their success rate and satisfaction in marriage, Interpersonal Communication Programs (ICP) developed a couple communication program. That program, called Collaborative Marriage Skills, enhances the communication skills of partners in marriage. More than 700,000 couples worldwide have participated in the program.

The program uses an online assesment tool called Thrive. The Thrive assesment incorporates ICP's 7 sectors of assessing a relationship:

  • Committing to Partnership
  • Caring actively for self, Partner, and the Relationship
  • Communicating with Skill, to Connect
  • Cooperation to Resolve Issues
  • Considering Life's Challenges and Concerns
  • Celebrating our Life Together
  • Contributing to Others Around Us

The cost for a couple to take the THRIVE assessment and review their results in a 45 to 50 Minute session with a trained facilitator on our staff is $99.00. Within one year, a couple can retake the THRIVE assessment a second and even third time and review the second and third set of results with a facilitator for $75.00.

Group Premarital and Marital Seminars

Christian Counseling Associates will offer a biblically based group marital and premarital seminar this year. Joe Pacifico, MBA, MS, LCPC will be the facilitator of this seminar. The format will be a combination of teaching and sharing of experience in a group setting based on the book "Empowering Couples-Building on Your Strengths." by Dr. David Olson. The purpose of the Seminar is to help couples maximize their potential for developing mutually satisfying relationships. Scripture will be included throughout the seminar. The group will be open to couples who are either dating, engaged or married. It will be held at our offices (Address and Directions).

The Seminar will include the following:

  • Explore relationship strength and growth areas
  • Strengthen communication skills, including assertiveness and active listening
  • Resolve conflicts using a 12-step procedure
  • Explore relationship and family of origin issues
  • Develop a workable buget and financial plan
  • Develop personal, couple and family goals

Cost Per Couple: $295.00 (Minimum of 6 couples must register for the seminar to be held)
